Job Surfing
There's a lot of jobs out there but along with that, there's a lot of qualifications and requirements needed for those jobs. While surfing through design job postings I found similarities even though the jobs weren't all the same.
- Organized and Detail Oriented
- Adobe Creative Suite Experience (emphasis on Illustrator and Photoshop)
- Demonstrates Clear Communication Skills
- At least 2 years experience
- Bachelors Degree
- Proficient understanding of file formatting for print and web
- Strong type and layout skills
These qualifications seemed to carry through each job posting I looked at. After reading these postings, I realized how important it is now to focus on developing those skills future employers are looking for and requiring. Having the opportunity to develop these skills while there is room for error is what college is there for! I also found it interesting how wide of a range of jobs there were in the design field. There are so many paths you as a designer can take depending on your strengths, design styles, and interests. Design truly is a fluid form changing depending on the person, environment, and task.
No matter what jobs there are out there, finding a job that I'm passionate about and which I can grow in is all I can hope for once my time at college comes to an end.
